THEATRE 503's URBAN SCRAWL

Woolford and John have written a new piece 'Terminal Four Play' for Theatre 503/Theatrevoice's Urban Scrawl Project. Urban Scrawl is a collection of 53 new short plays, each one themed around a different Piccadilly Line London Underground Station. See the new 'Terminal Four Play' page.

RAILWAY CHILDREN WORKSHOPS LAUNCHED

JULIAN AND RICHARD TO BRING 'I DO! I DO!' TO VIENNA

Julian will direct and Richard will be the musical director for a new production of 'I Do! i Do!' in Vienna in Spring 2009. Written by Tom Jones and Harvey Schmidt, the show charts the marriage of a couple over 40 years, and uniquely for a Broadway Musical has only two characters, originally played by Robert Preston and Mary Martin. This new production will run in English from 30 March to 9 May at Vienna's English Theatre.

RICHARD IS MUSICAL DIRECTOR FOR THE FULL MONTY IN BERMUDA

Richard is currently working in Bermuda on a new production of THE FULL MONTY, the Broadway musical version of the popular British film.

RAILWAY CHILDREN CAST ALBUM NOW AVAILABLE


The Original Cast Album of The Railway Children is now available from record shops. It can be bought direct from JAY Records. It is available from Samuel French or Dress Circle in UK (both of whom run excellent mail order services). It is available in the USA from Footlight.com who also do worldwide mail order.

RAILWAY CHILDREN PLAYS IN PADSTOW

The Railway Children is currently playing at The Little Theatre, Padstow, Cornwall (29 July - 30 August 2008). It is produced by the Padstow Kernow Players and the Little Theatre seats just 60 people. 

RAILWAY CHILDREN ORIGINAL CAST ALBUM RELEASED MONDAY 28 JULY

The Railway Children Original Cast Album will be available in shops from Monday 28 July 2008. Starring Susannah Fellows, Paul Henry, Nicholas Smith, Emily Bull, Karen Clegg, Brendan Cull, Neil Ditt, Maria Holley and Claire Taylor the CD is released on the TER label and will be available from Dress Circle, Amazon, HMV, Zavvi and all good record shops.

Susannah Fellows is currently appearing as Glinda in The Wizard of Oz at the South Bank, Paul Hnery is on tour in Run For Your Wife, Emily Bull is currently playing Frenchy in Grease at the Piccadily Theatre, Brendan Cull is appearing in the National Tour of West Side Story and Neil Ditt is playiong Perchick in the National Tour of Fiddler On The Roof.

The Cast album can be ordered now from JAY Records.

The album will also be released on iTunes at a later date.

SONGS CHOSEN FOR AMERICAN NEW WORKS FESTIVAL

Two songs from Comrade Rockstar have been chosen for the New Works Festival in Delaware USA, produced by Clear Space Productions.

Each year, Clear Space's Festival includes a concert of songs from new musicals by emerging writers.

The two songs chosen are Smalliville Colorado and Don't Go. Smallville Colorado was the song Carl Au chose when he won the Sondheim Student Performer of the year - Don't Go will get it's first public performance at the Festival. 10 songs are chosen in total from the dozens submitted from all over the world.

The concert this year is to be held on 13 November. If you are in Delaware then go along. You can find more information here.

THE RAILWAY CHILDREN performed in Chichester

Oakwood School Chichester presented The Railway Children on the 25 and 26 June. 

THE RAILWAY CHILDREN FACEBOOK GROUP REACHES 300 MEMBERS

Just two weeks after launching the new Facebook Group: The Railway Children (Musical) has more than 300 members. It is designed for groups presenting their own productions to be able to leave comments, post pictures and contribute to discussions. THE RAILWAY CHILDREN performed in Chatham

The first youth theatre production of THE RAILWAY CHILDREN took place at the end of May at the Kings Theatre in Chatham. A cast of over 50 young people aged from 5 – 13 gave a spirited performance.

COMRADE ROCKSTAR in workshop

Arts Educational school in London produced a one-hour workshop of material from our new musical COMRADE ROCKSTAR. The musical is about the life and death of Dean Reed against the backdrop of the collapse of the Soviet Union.

THE RAILWAY CHILDREN songbook published

Samuel French Ltd have published a songbook of material from THE RAILWAY CHILDREN, which includes cabaret/audition versions of certain songs. It is now available from Samuel French Ltd.

CARL AU wins Sondheim Student Singer of the Year singing SMALLVILLE COLORADO

Student Carl Au won the Sondheim Society’s Student Singer of the Year singing SMALLVILLE COLORADO from COMRADE ROCKSTAR. The competition, organised by the Sondheim Society and Mercury Musical Developments is a prestigious prize with judges including Julia McKenzie. Carl, who sung FRANKLIN SHEPHERD INC and SMALLVILLE COLORADO was particularly praised for his choice of songs. Congratulations Carl.
